Thank you for your message to the Division of Drug Information, Center
for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), one of the five centers within
the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
We at the FDA are interested in learning of adverse experiences that
patients encounter and to do so have implemented the MedWatch program. It is
a voluntary system of reporting to FDA any adverse effects and/or product
problems. We now have a new way to report directly to MedWatch via the
Internet. You can find a link to the Internet voluntary reporting form by
going to the MedWatch homepage
(http://www.fda.gov/medwatch/index.html),click on "How to Report", then
"Reporting by Health Professionals" or "Reporting by Consumers". In
addition, if you would like to report your adverse experience directly to
the MedWatch Program, please call 1-800-FDA-1088.
Sincerely,
Drug Information CY

Comments: Neurontin (Pfizer) was prescribed for me for bipolar disorder.
At very high doses (1600 mg) it created confusion, loss of train
of thought, inability to form conclusions, interruption in
thoughts so as not to carry on a conversation.
At lower doses (800 mg), it was totally without effect. My
doctor has discontinued it. It was costing $100/month. Neurontin
is not cost effective.
Neurontin should not be prescribed for bipolar disorder.
It doesn't work.
Pfizer has preyed on gullible first year residents and others
as a "miracle" drug. They have planted articles in scholarly
journals. University of Maryland is especially susceptible.
Neurontin is ineffectual for mania and is only a weak,
antidipressant, if at all. Its effects are not being detected
much less reported.
NEURONTIN IS NOT A MOOD STABILIZER.
DOCTORS HAVE BEEN DUPED INTO BELIEVING THAT.
University of Maryland inpatient and outpatient staff are
incompetently prescribing it for bipolar, schizophrenia and
drug abuse.
